Reactions to Recent Executive Orders

This month, President Donald Trump signed three Executive Orders to strengthen the United States electric grid, invigorate the coal fleet, and remove illegitimate impediments to the development of domestic energy resources. Below are some recent remarks in support of these executive orders:

President Donald Trump: “Coal is the single most reliable, durable, secure, and powerful form of energy…it’s cheap, incredibly efficient, high density, and almost indestructible…we are bringing back an industry that was abandoned despite the fact it was just about the best in terms of power — real power.”

EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin: “The war on beautiful, clean coal is over! No longer will the U.S. be trying to regulate coal out of existence. This moment calls for more U.S. energy, more jobs, and less cost, and we are so ready to meet this moment.”

Energy Secretary Chris Wright: “Under the national energy emergency, which President Trump has declared, we’ve got to keep every coal plant open…and if there have been units at a coal plant that have been shut down, we need to bring those back.”

House Committee on Natural Resources: “No one produces coal as cleanly or responsibly as we do – and it will be a crucial tool in meeting growing domestic energy demand. Today, President Trump ensured we have the capacity to meet that demand by signing four executive orders to unlock American coal. The future of American energy is bright.”

Attorney General JB McCuskey: “This is a turning point for our nation, our economy and our security. Coal is the answer to powering the next generation of AI and American manufacturing, and I am thankful to have a President who stands up for the industry that made America great, and will make America great again.”

East Kentucky Power Cooperative CEO Tony Campbell: “Affordable and reliable electricity is a cornerstone of our economy, especially in American manufacturing. However, too many government leaders have pushed policies that have made our electric grid significantly less reliable and our energy too expensive. That begins to change now.”

U.S. Department of Energy: “A growing supply of electricity is essential to re-industrialize the United States and win the global AI race. This administration wants to see major growth of electricity with no increase in price. How is this done? Utilizing all forms of energy –including coal.”

West Virginia Coal Mine Superintendent Jeff Crowe: “From my family, to the over 3,000 employees of ACNR, and for the coal companies, miners, and businesses throughout our great country that rely on the coal industry, we say thank you for your continued support.”

U.S. Senator John Barrasso (R-WY): “Coal is one of the most affordable, reliable, and abundant sources of energy on the planet. I look forward to standing with President Trump today to celebrate this win for Wyoming and America.”

U.S. Senator Steve Daines (R-MT): “Thank you President Trump for saving Montana coal mines and jobs! It’s time to unleash reliable, affordable energy.”

These comments highlight support for the Administration’s efforts to reverse anti-coal policies that undermine grid reliability and growing awareness of the urgent need to prevent further plant retirements.
