Washington, D.C. – Last Friday, Laura V. Swett was named by President Trump to be the new Chairman of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC). America’s Power President & CEO Michelle Bloodworth released the following statement:
“America’s Power congratulates Ms. Swett on her new role as Chairman of FERC. FERC is playing an increasingly crucial role in ensuring a reliable grid. Chairman Swett’s experience as a litigator and former FERC staffer will enable her to lead the commission in addressing the many challenges that confront FERC. These challenges have led to a growing electricity crisis that requires prompt action. The nation’s coal fleet can play an important role in helping to overcome this crisis.
“We also commend Commissioner Rosner for his service as Chairman and look forward to working with Chairman Swett, Commissioner Rosner, and the other three commissioners to develop policies that deliver reliable and affordable electricity and recognize the value of the nation’s coal fleet.”
