America’s Power Statement on DLA Energy Coal-Based Power Solicitation for U.S. Military Installations

Washington, D.C. – The Defense Logistics Agency – Energy, within the U.S. Department of War, recently issued a solicitation for a nationwide, coal-based power purchase agreement to support U.S. military installations. In response, America’s Power President and CEO Michelle Bloodworth released the following statement:

“Ensuring reliable, fuel-secure electricity for U.S. military installations is fundamental to national security. This solicitation reflects the Administration carrying out its policy commitments under recent Executive Orders recognizing that coal-based power generation and secure domestic fuel supplies are essential to that mission.

“Critical defense infrastructure requires electricity that is available at all times and supported by secure, on-site fuel supplies. Coal-based generation uniquely provides that level of resilience and dependability, making it an essential guarantor of energy security for military operations.

“As electricity demand grows and reliability risks increase, actions like this help ensure that the nation’s most critical facilities have access to dependable power when it is needed most.

“We look forward to continuing to work with the Department of War as it advances efforts to ensure reliable, fuel-secure power for U.S. military installations.”
