Washington, D.C. – America’s Power President and CEO Michelle Bloodworth issued the following statement after the U.S. House of Representatives Energy and Commerce Committee approved a Congressional Review Act joint resolution of disapproval that would block EPA’s Carbon Rule:
“We commend the Energy and Commerce Committee for passing legislation to protect ratepayers’ access to reliable and affordable electricity. EPA’s carbon rule is a drastic overreach that would shutter America’s coal-fired power plants, a major source of electricity, at a time when demand for electricity is growing rapidly. Grid operators, utility commissioners, and other energy experts have made it clear that forcing the nation’s coal fleet to retire threatens the reliability of our electric grid. We urge the House and Senate to pass this legislation to protect ratepayers from electricity shortages.”
