New Video Series: State Public Utility Commissioners Talk About the Importance of Coal Power Plants

America’s Power is releasing the first in a series of videos,  “Powering AI and American Innovation,” to highlight artificial intelligence and the vast amounts of electricity needed to power this expanding technology.

In the video, Public Utility Commissioners Julie Fedorchak of North Dakota and Tricia Pridemore of Georgia explain that America’s baseload power plants give us a competitive advantage in the race to deploy AI, but regulatory overreach is forcing these power plants to shut down at the same time demand for electricity is skyrocketing and more, not fewer, power plants are needed.  America’s Power President and CEO Michelle Bloodworth further explains current electricity demand growth and the conflict between federal regulations and the need to maintain enough reliable sources of power.

Future videos – to be released in the coming weeks – will feature comments from other public utility commissioners about maintaining the reliability of our electricity supply and the importance of dependable sources of power to America’s economic progress and our ability to compete in a challenging world.
