Jon McKinney

Jon McKinney served as Chairman/Commissioner of the West Virgina Public Service Commission for over 9 years. Jon is currently President of McKinney Solutions, an independent consulting firm that provides advice in the energy field. Prior to his commissioner role he had more than 30 years of experience in management with Monsanto Company.

Jon was active in the National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners (NARUC) and has made numerous presentations to various organizations including testifying before Congress. He was appointed member of The National Coal Council, Board of Directors of NARUC, Past President of the Organization of PJM States (OPSI), Past President the Mid-Atlantic Conference of Regulatory Utilities Commissioners (MACRUC), Past Chair of the NARUC Clean Coal Subcommittee, Advisory Committee member for the Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI), member Eastern Interconnect States Planning Council Committee, member of WV Governor’s Strategic Task Force and Governor’s Transition Team. He was a Deacon in Presbyterian Church and on the board of directors for West Virginia State University, Thomas Memorial Hospital and St. Francis Hospital.

He received his M.B.A. from University of West Florida and B.S. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Kentucky. He is married to Paula and has 2 children and 5 grandchildren. Jon currently resides near Charlotte NC.
